On July 27 in Austin, Texas, a woman identified online as Lexa Peyton approached a group of Black men on the street and yelled: “You f—ing touch me again, you Black f—ing [N-word]. F—k you.” She mentioned having epilepsy and threatened to call 911. She called 911. A Black police officer arrived, assessed the situation, and arrested her. Her gym revoked her membership after the video went viral.
The video was set to a song by street performer King Trot and gained hundreds of thousands of views on Instagram. The irony of calling the police, the police arriving, and then being the one who gets arrested was noted extensively in the comments. As was the fact that the officer who made the arrest was Black. The internet had thoughts.
